China's making a point in EVs. Is Geely's Zeekr 001 going to outmatch Tesla?

China is already quite a big name when it comes to the world of Technology and telecom, and so far it seems they try to prove their strength in every trending innovation, no wonder with the coming of EVs, they aren't ready to be left behind. And here once again we are getting an exceptional EV called the Zeekr 001 from Geely Auto, a leading automobile manufacturer based in Hangzhou, China founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The Zeekr 001 is an all-electric 5-door shooting brake produced by Geely under the Zeekr brand and technical cousin of Lynk and Co. It will be marketed in China from October 2021 and then in Europe in 2022. The company is privately held by Chinese billionaire business magnate Li Shufu.

Geely however is a newbie in the world of EV manufacturing, it was only earlier this year that the car manufacturer announced its entry into the already saturated world of Electric Vehicles and here they are with the production of the Zeekr 001 said to be leaving the production factory on the 16th of October and will be available in the market this late October 2021. The Car was initially debuted at the Shanghai Auto show and since then has gained for itself much attention as many people already likened it to Tesla, especially the type 3 model because they share somewhat similar features such as dual-motor all-wheel drive, 20” Überturbine Wheels and Performance Brakes and lowered suspension for total control. however, the Zeekr 001 offers more to its stunning design. Reports say the car can go up 700km on a full charge, air suspension and ultra-fast acceleration. The top of the trim variant of the 001 has electric motors on both the front and rear axle, putting out a combined output of 536hp and 700Nm of torque and can propel the 001 from 0-100kph in 3.8sec. Geely as mentioned earlier is claiming that the Zeekr 001 can run on a full charge for up to 700km, and its charging setup will give it 120km worth of power in just five minutes of charging time, an impressive performance right? All these are what makes folks to Fond call it the Tesla Killer especially as it is priced almost around the same figures as the Tesla 3 model made in Shanghai.
